The Travel Transformation

Over the past two centuries, transportation has changed a lot from thousand year oldmethods to new and modern methods. The first change in transportation technology was the convenience, taking days of travel, being able to cross a country in hours and allowing for people to experience the whole world without taking years away from their life. This continues today with proposals for flying objects to be used by all people with a convenience which is close to the use of a car. The next transportation piece that came was the safety piece. Some of this was implemented by individuals after large tragedies, while some of it was instituted by governments. Every time a person dies from a transportation failure there is an investigation which leads to safer travel for the future. The third important piece to travel is comfortability which improves as other technology improves. Television shows could be watched as travel was taken, an improvement for some, flights which adjusted to the time of the destination are still in trial but can survive the issue of adjusting to a new time zone.

A proposal I would have for the community to improve convenience and comfort while also keeping safety levels up is a train such as a light rail but having only one train moving back and forth while involving the passenger in the local area. Where I live most of this technology is not super near, it is not something that would be super convenient to me unless I am traveling many miles. This may be because I do not live in the center of a large city, but on a smaller scale it can help as well. Testing it out in an environmentally diverse area could allow for a type of tour which would be given at a zoo, but it would be available for a larger audience on a daily basis and it could discover a greater area which is not looked at much. For a culturally diverse area, some places in the town could be shown, along with music of the community and having a place on the vehicle to taste some of the food. This can work for a smaller town as well as more people could discuss what they plan to do on a daily basis, for anyone who did not go to a local meet up place on a given day. The safety may not be improved much as safety is already high, but unique roads for this transportation may allow for less crashes, especially if there is only one vehicle on each road. The convenience would be there too as there would be less if no waiting times as there would be one vehicle which is planned to avoid high traffic areas, such as boarding and loading areas for other transit options. This would improve one way foot traffic as all people at the stop could be heading for one direction. An idea for how I think this project could be accomplished is by having shop spaces which are able to be sold at specific spots. This could mean that the rent which is provided by these companies could further fund the project. Even the spots on the train where some food or local souvenirs are sold can also provide some money to keep the train around. Possibly allowing companies a spot to personally design a train to represent them could allow for successful upkeep. A third idea which could be added along with the other two is to have it be a tourist attraction. Marketing it as something that is not present around the world would possibly inspire more people to ride them and to also visit the surrounding area where stops for the trains are.

This transportation could affect people I know specifically as they could have an option to go around town, to places in which they have never been to before. This could also ease the amount of traffic and such which I witness at busy portions of the day. This could mean that more people would be able to make it to places on time and certain goals towards reducing the amount of pollution could be achieved. This would allow for more localized events or visits to community gathering places which would be possible for people to attend, which before would be slightly too far to walk. Although the train may cost an amount of money to ride, depending on if a person spends a certain amount of money on something from a vendor on the train, they could be allowed to ride the train for free. While there may also be a cost forever on the train, possibly profits from vendor rent, or a company placement on a train may offset these costs.
